Absolicon provide heating in the Swedish pavilion during Expo 2020 – Dubai, UAE

Absolicon has been selected as a showcase of innovative Swedish sustainability technology and will participate in the Swedish delegation at the World Expo in Dubai. Absolicon will demonstrate its solution by providing heat for domestic hot water demand to the Swedish pavilion ‘The Forest’ throughout the exhibition period.

Absolicon Installation

To embrace the topic of sustainability, one of the World Expo´s major themes, the Swedish pavilion ‘The Forest’ opted to use Absolicon technology to supply heat for its domestic hot water demand during the exhibition period.

The solar field is a rooftop installation of 4 T160 Solar collectors, with an aperture area of 22m2.

The solar heat collected with Absolicon patented technology will be stored using 2 heat battery tanks. The heat battery tanks will allow to store the excess energy from the solar field during the daytime, to meet the customer´s energy demand also when there is no sunlight (examples: nigh-time, cloudy days, etc…). The batteries are also supported with electrical heaters to prevent energy issues.

As most of the load requirement is expected to occur in the evening or night when there is no sunlight, the tanks help match this load profile. The batteries will be charged during the day by the solar field and discharged at night for consumption.

World Expo 2020 – Dubai, UAE

The World Expo is one of the oldest and largest international events on the planet, taking place every five years and lasting six months. It’s a festival for everyone, where everyone can experience, explore, innovate and have fun by sharing ideas and working together.

Expo 2020 Dubai will be the first-ever World Expo in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region. The theme for Expo 2020 is “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” and will showcase the best examples of collaboration and innovation from around the world.

The building area of the Swedish pavilion, called ‘The Forest’, is 2370 square meters. With the goal to promote the image of Sweden abroad, trade and investment, Swedish participation will invite the public, business visitors, and government initiatives to create a sustainable future. Visitors can stroll through its path, flanked by wooden trunks, and learn how Sweden is building smart cities, developing the next generation of travel, innovating life sciences, and developing a bio-circular economy.

Innovations launched at World Expos include: telephone (Philadelphia, 1876), the Eiffel Tower (Paris, 1889), the Ferris Wheel (Chicago, 1893), the X-ray Machine (Buffalo, 1901), the commercial television broadcast (New York, 1939), the IMAX (Osaka, 1970), touch screens (Knoxville, 1982) and the humanoid robot (Nagoya, 2005).

Expo 2020 is postponed due to the covid-19 pandemic and will be held October 1, 2021 – March 31, 2022
